Smallflower
The online companion to Chicago's 130+ year old Merz Apothecary, Smallflower sells more than 30,000 natural health, bath, and body products. After the e-commerce website launched in 1998, changes to product lines and technology eventually required a complete redesign. |

Smallflower hired Swartwerk Media Design to join its team, which met for several months prior to the redesign to collaborate on a usability strategy. We photographed hundreds of products that had formerly been sold through the website without images. Working cooperatively with the team, Swartwerk Media Design transformed design prototypes into HTML pages with web-optimized graphics.
The Smallflower website launched on time for the 2006 holiday shopping season with increased traffic and page views over prior years. |

Riehn Insurance is a family owned and operated independent insurance agency based in Chicago's Lincoln Square neighborhood since 1956. The agency had a website, but felt that it did not reflect its commitment to professional service and its full range of insurance offerings. |

Swartwerk Media Design developed a completely new design for the website, using only the content of the old website as a starting point. The new website immediately presents the types of policies available at Riehn Insurance on the home page, along with images to illustrate what the policies protect. It presents Riehn Insurance as an established, professional agency with connections to trusted insurance providers.
